Welcome to my attempt to create an informative and interesting blog. I have been officially retired since January of 2015. I was fortunate enough to be in the position to call it quits at the age of 56. But to my dismay it was evident that retiring wasn’t like turning a light switch off. I have struggled with the transition from full time employment to leaving the work force.
Since I found myself with more time than I knew what to do with I continued to do a small amount of website design and website maintenance and will slowly but surely call it quits as I continue to transition into retirement.
Traveling the world has become more and more perilous and planning this years trips will take some research to find safe destinations for our adventures. Personally we are limiting our destinations to Mexico, Canada and the United States. Most travel agencies will let you know about Travel Alerts and Warnings pertaining to our plans. You should also check the U.S. State Departments website prior to your departure.
Learn About Your Destination
The State Departments Office of American Citizens Services and Crisis Management (ACS) administer the Consular Information Program, which informs the public of conditions abroad that may affect their safety and security. Country Specific Information, Travel Alerts, and Travel Warnings are vital parts of this program.
The State Department provide Country Specific Information for every country of the world. You will find the location of the U.S. embassy and any consular offices, information about whether you need a visa, crime and security information, health and medical considerations, drug penalties, localized hot spots and more. This is a good place to start learning about where you are going.
